Here’s how they work…..a solid, non-skid base made of rubber is the platform for a “pad” of clear plastic sheets that are sticky on one side. As you leave a “dirty” area going into a “clean” area, you walk across the sheet leaving behind your footprint of dirt, dust, or grime that was stuck to the bottom of your shoes. No sticky residue is implanted on the shoes. When the sheet is completely soiled (no longer sticky), use the color-coded tab in the corner of the pad to pull off and discard the top dirty sheet. A fresh sticky pad is ready for use. The amount of traffic is different in each home but a pad of 60 sheets should last, on average, about 2 to 3 months. If foot traffic is unusually heavy such as during an open house or party, construction/remodeling, or where children are coming in and out during the summer months, usage might increase. Each base measures 18" X 25" and is 5/16" thick. Each pad of 60 sheets measures 17.5" x 23".
Note: Of all four bases, the white base shows dirt the most. On the black, maple and oak the sheet will lose its stickiness before it really looks dirty. Warning: Be prepared to see just how much you track in on a daily basis. You will be shocked. And to think that that “stuff” has been hiding in your carpet or scuffing up your floors! |
